In 1930, Georgian Robert Tyre Jones Jr.won the Grand Slam. Other great golfers from Georiga include Alexa Stirling Frasier and Charlie Yates. Jones built the Augusta National Golf club where the Masters Tournament is held each April. Other courses that have difficult holes are St. Marlo country Club in Duluth, Cherokee Run Golf Club in Conyers, Goshen Plantation Golf Club in Augusta, Emerald Pointe Golf Club in Lake Lanier Islands, The Golf Club at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee in Eatonton and 12 other courses throughout Georgia.

In the mountains, golf courses are in Adairsville, Blairsville, Braselton, Canton, Carrollton, Cedartown, Chatsworth, Clayton, Commerce, Cumming, Dahlonega, Ellijay, hartwell, Gainesville, Lake Lanier Islands, Ringgold, rome, Sy Valley, Trenton, Villa Roca, Woodstock and other towns.
In the Southern Rivers region, golf courses are in Albany, Americus, Ashburn, Bainbridge, Columbus, Cordele, Fort Gaines, Griffin, LaGrange, Pine Mountain, Thomaston, Tifton, Valdosta, Warm Springs, Williamson, Woodbury and other towns.
