Pickett’s Mill battlefield state historic site is located in Dallas Ga. The battlefield is very well preserved. The roads here were used by both the union and confederacy. The earthworks are still in place. Take hikes. Bring a picnic. Explore the area.
The Kennesaw national battlefield park is located south of Atlanta GA. The battle was fought during the 1864 Atlanta campaign. There is a visitor center here where you can take a tour and see a short film. The park is over 2888 acres. There are hiking trails and picnic areas.
the chattahoochee national forest is located in the northwest mountains of georgia around Blue Ridge and Calhoun. Around Blue Ridge is Deep HOle REcreation area here you can launch a canoe on the Toccoa River, camp, fish and picnic. Hidden Creek is near Calhoun. This is a creek that will appear and run for a day or so then disappear. You can hike, camp and picnic here. Other towns in the area are Chatsworth, Ellijay, Lafayette and Morganton. Each of these areas has hiking, fishing and other outdoor recreation.
chickamauga battlefield and Chattanooga National Military Park is located near Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe Georgia in the Appalachian foothills. The park is over 5,000 acres. You can take a self-guided tour. The battle lasted 3 days. It was the seconded bloodiest battle of the civil war. There are lots of monuments, markers and guns. Many people come here to hike the trails and picnic.
Six flags over georgia is located in Cobb county just 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta. Goliath is the tallest roller coaster in the southeast and its here. There’s also six flags white water and sun valley beach. You can also shop at the nearby shopping malls.
